Jeanne’s Version of Creating a Tarot Deck

Here’s one of my work’s most FAQ: When are you going to create your own Tarot deck?

Here is my most frequent answer: Only after receiving a severe blow to the head.

I know people who have created their own Tarot decks. It takes years out of a person’s life, and I don’t even want to think about the massive amount of both inner and outer work required to create a “new-and-improved” version of Tarot that is worth the paper it’s printed on.

No thanks, I’ve got yard sales to attend.

And then along comes Pinterest, yet one more way for us to share with others the full fabric of our being; as if Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Yahoo, Bing, WordPress, Flickr, Foursquare, and the omnipresent Google have somehow been unable to get the job done.

BUT, Pinterest is a place where I can create the deck of my dreams! And it’s simple: use cards from decks that are ALREADY CREATED! Someone else has poured out their blood, sweat, and tears, and now I get to pick the bones.

Here’s a project I can embrace. Oh yes, I can compile, of that I am capable.

My deck is not a fait accompli, more a work in progress. And I must say, the whole thing is very satisfying! If you’re at all interested in the Tarot and the many ways that different cards are interpreted by different scholars/designers/artists/creators, not only do you need to take a look at my board, why not start one of your own?

Once the 78-pieces are all in place on my Pinterest board, I may have to go out and buy the various decks required to build the composite deck. Until then, being on the lookout for the next “Best Tarot Card of Its Kind” is almost as a satisfying as the Saturday morning yard sale hunt.

PS– In case you’re wondering about that colorful image at the top of this page, that’s the TarotWorks gift-wrapping paper I designed along with a friend in 2004. It’s great stuff– well made and beautiful. Not quite an example of a “severe blow to the head” moment, but close! Visit the TarotWorks site to see more about the gift wrap and other cool handmade Tarot goods.

The colorful image on the right is the Aliester Crowley Thoth Tarot’s version of the Two of Discs… best of its kind, in my opinion.

All the above statements are true, but the bottom line is that Clic Tarot stands for Clarity, Insight, and Confidence, which is what a good Tarot can bring into your life.

If that weren’t enough, my guest this week will be Rick Bouchard, a licensed clinical social worker who integrates the Tarot into his work with clients.  In private practice in Portland Maine and also is a Diploma Candidate in Stage Two of the Jungian Analyst Training Program at the C.G. Jung Institute, Boston, Massachusetts, Rick is currently working on his thesis The Use of Tarot in Jungian Analysis and is developing a technique by which to amplify dreams in session through use of the Tarot.

Whew! That’s a lot to talk about, but we want to hear from you about what matters most in YOUR life, so let us hear from you too!

What a World!

If you live long enough, you’ll find that all sorts of weird and interesting things can happen.

It’s not that I’m ancient (nearing 59 but really still 14), it’s just that sometimes things happen and I think, “In what kind of universe does such a thing happen?” Take for example, Richard Simmons in his shiny red and white striped gym shorts. Or chocolate covered bacon. Or doggie Halloween costumes. Or the fact that next Wednesday I launch my own radio show.

Honestly, I’m not even sure how I got to this place of reading Tarot as a chosen profession. I mean really, who does such a thing? It’s been over 20 years and yet, when making opening remarks at a lecture or event, the words sound in my head like a confession at a 12-step meeting: “Hello, my name is Jeanne and I’m a professional Tarot reader.”

What a world. I’m not complaining, just observing; and musing on how/why it is that I’ll be broadcasting my words, thoughts, and impressions on the world wide web for the next several months…through October at least.

It is a great comfort to know that it won’t be my voice, but the voices of others that will really make the show. We’ll be doing an hour-long show with live on-air readings …  talk about “being in the moment!”

To be a fly on the wall in the presence of someone else’s reading is really a wonderful opportunity to learn a bit about the Tarot system, to understand the  complexities of the Tarot reading process, to witness the challenges which other people face, and perhaps gain some insight for yourself. It is this combination of experiences that the radio show will bring to listeners.

As with all programming, this show exists for the listeners — and in this case, the callers. So as an incentive to tune in to the first show (Wednesday July 11th at 3pm EST), I’m offering a FREE (and private) half-hour phone reading to whomever is the first caller on July 11th’s broadcast.

Here are the particulars — I do hope you’ll tune in. The whole thing promises to be interesting, informative, and FUN!

Five Things the Tarot Books Don’t Tell You

By the end of June I should have all the pieces of my master plan to take over the universe…. I mean my new marketing plan… in place:

*a complete set of video Tarot classes offering in-home Tarot classes hosted by moi,

*an ongoing monthly series of online webinars,

*a newly-designed and fab-if-I-do-say-so-myself website,

* a 5-piece class on Udemy called Learn Tarot 5-4-3-2-1.

Although the Udemy classes won’t be posted until next week, I thought I’d give you a sneak peek at these classes via the first video in the series entitled, Five Things the Tarot Books Don’t Tell You. Even if you already know something about Tarot, I bet you’ll find something here you can use.

So — click on the link and enjoy this 10-minute video, and happy summer to everyone!

BIG NEWS: Jeanne’s Tarot Radio Show Coming in July

Woo- Hoo!

Starting on Wednesday July 11th at 3pm EST, I’ll be hosting my own radio show on the Women 4 Women Network, live on internet radio.

The show is called “Clic Tarot,” Clic being an acronym for Clarity, Insight and Confidence. And despite the name of the network, the show welcomes listeners of all genders.

I’ll be doing live readings for call-in listeners, we’ll be learning about the Tarot and how this system of symbols tells its story, we’ll be talking about life and love and work and metaphysics and having an all-around good time on Wednesday afternoons!

Here’s what the radio ad will tell you about Clic Tarot:
Are there places in your life that could some clarity? Are you uncertain about the direction your life seems to be headed? Are your relationships truly meeting your emotional needs? Could you use some insight into an important matter in your life?

Tune in to Clic Tarot with Jeanne Fiorini every Wednesday afternoon at 3:00pm EST, when Jeanne and the Tarot will offer clarity, insight, and confidence about what matters most in YOUR life.

My lovely and talented friend Deirdre worked with my lovely and talented friend Larry to put together an inspired piece of harp music for the background music for the show, the perfect accompaniment for what I hope to accomplish with this project: a sense of clarity, insight, and confidence for individuals and a greater understanding and appreciation for the Tarot.

Mark your calendars for July 11th at 3pm EST, put a star on Wednesday afternoons, and tune in to the perfect way to bring fun and enlightenment into your week.

Woo- Hoo!

Happy Anniversary to “Tarot Tips”

Today is the first anniversary of the TarotWorks “Tarot Tips” video series on YouTube!

In the past year, there have been 37 “Tarot Tips,” 6866 views, and 127 subscribers from all parts of the world. I had no real expectations when this project began — but if I had, they would have been surpassed.

It’s weird how comfortable I’ve become getting all glammed up in order to talk into a camera on a tripod with no other living person within 200 feet. It’s amazing to know that what is created in my dining room in South Portland, Maine can be seen by people in the farthest reaches of the planet.  It’s wonderful to hear comments from subscribers about how they’ve been able to integrate the ideas and methods into their practice and study of the Tarot.

To commemorate this first anniversary, I’m offering a FREE  15-minute phone reading to the FIRST person to answer this question correctly:

I was going to draw a card at random from the deck and open the quiz to whomever guessed which card had been drawn. However, as I was shuffling, there was “a leaper” that jumped from the pile. So the question then becomes, “What was the card that leapt from the deck as I was shuffling for this anniversary quiz?”

The first person to post the correct answer on the TarotWorks Facebook page will win a FREE 15-minute phone session.

Good luck!
And a heartfelt thank you to EVERYONE who subscribes and/or views the Tarot Tips!!

FYI, here’s the link to the latest Tarot Tip.

The Personality Card Class is Up!

The latest addition to the TarotWorks Online Classroom has arrived:

The People Cards — they can be so confusing!
This 70-minute class is a complete and concise overview of the 16 Court/Personality Cards, what/whom they represent, their astrological associations, and their role in the Tarot deck.

If there’s any single section of the Tarot that befuddles and bewilders students of the Tarot, it’s the Personality Cards.

Be befuddled no more!

Here’s the link … click … check it out.
